ATTENTION ALL PREGNANT GOATS PARTICIPATING IN THE #BabyGoatCountdown: Today would be a great day to have your babies, before it gets cold and snow-rainy. Pretty pretty please. (Especially if you can time it between Zoom meetings, that would be great.) Thanks, goats.

*mlep*

Alice, the leader goat, appears to be in labour! But I'm not sure if she's at the "babies any minute" or "babies any hour" stage.

She's still chewing her cud, which on any other goat would mean the birth is still a ways off. But she is the most food-motivated goat in the whole herd. So who knows! #BabyGoatCountdown

Rearranged all the goats (and babies) into different stalls for the night based on who is most likely to kid and who gets along with who (there is some herd DRAMA). The temperature is going to drop dramatically overnight, and it's supposed to rain and then snow tomorrow. Lovely.

Still no babies from Alice... #BabyGoatCountdown

I guess I'm going to bring a book out to the barn and sit with her for a while before I get to go to bed... (could be babies are hours away still, could be she's pushing them out right now as I'm typing this. Won't know for sure until I get out there!) #BabyGoatCountdown
@sundogplanets
lol we need a web cam!!!
@MsMerope @sundogplanets yes, please.
How nice to see your pictures of all those small goats. Due to the time difference I usually see most of them once I start my day here - I'm looking forward to it.
@MsMerope If you want goat webcams, check out @GoatsLive!
@sundogplanets How's Alice doing? Any babies? (and how are you?)
@sundogplanets Do you read out loud to her, or is it just comfort from your presence and being on hand for the big event?
@juliehuz I was just reading silently to myself! I don't think she'd mind me reading to her, but I don't think she'd particularly enjoy it either. But she definitely appreciated my presence there, leaning over for scritches every once in a while.
@sundogplanets I'll say it again because goats keep birthing, you're a midwife of legend!
@sundogplanets
🤞 All the best from the other side of the world.
@sundogplanets So you got all your goats in a row now?
@Firesphere @sundogplanets Sam lined up her ducks at least a week ago.
@roadskater @Firesphere Unfortunately they do not stay in a row for more than a few seconds at a time...
@sundogplanets goats are the definition of drama. And in my experience, usually choose to have their kids at the worst possible time for you and for the survival of the baby.
@sundogplanets yea, save the drama for your llama.
@sundogplanets oh no - not HERD drama! ❤️

@sundogplanets

Keeping everything crossed! 🤞🤞🤞🙂

@sundogplanets

Alice: Ice chips, my ass. ❤️🐐❤️

@sundogplanets

Lovely, nutty creatures that make this world a better place.

@sundogplanets

cuteness level ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

@sundogplanets OMG. Bliss. Cuteness.
@sundogplanets
For years, most of our animal names were foods: Jellybean, Popcorn, Pepper, etc. Current cat is Chia (seeds).
Our billy goat's name cannot be posted: it wasn't polite. Neither was he.
@sundogplanets That’s an excellent pile of baby goats.
@sundogplanets They're adorable! My partner wants goats and I keep fighting her on it because our neighbor has goats and he strongly recommended we get sheep instead because "goats get sick quickly and easily and you'll spend a fortune on vet bills". Photos like this make it harder to argue against goats!
@sundogplanets They look so happy. I want to be one of those kids.
