Dear @admin ( noc.social ),

This is @purrperl

Here we are again. I am sensing something non-kosher.

It has been weeks, that I have been trying to reach you and have not heard back.

Please send me a password reset email, as I have forgotten my password.

Please respond, and have a nice day!

Thanks,

@ashwin If your intention is to contact the @admin from defcon.social, you will need to complete the full name @admin when messageing from defcon.social as just using a bare @admin when messaging from defcon.social causes a message to be sent to the mostly unused @admin account.

If your goal to reach the official support on defcon.social the web page https://defcon.social/home reports it as @support which is just @support when messaging from defcon.social.

Good luck @ashwin

@support

Thanks. My mistake. Anyway, the [email protected] contacted me and I have been able to migrate contacts over.

@support @admin

Just received this phishing message.

Please address this account appropriately.

Thanks!

@ashwin For local support, it is a good idea to use the mastodon built-in "report @ (their username)" often included as an option in or near a post that might violate service agreement. This helps make sure the notification goes to all moderators on defcon.social , instead of just one account on defcon.social.

I saw the reports from others using the usual "report" process and found several accounts from * @ * mastodon.cloud which have started spamming. Defcon.social mods have taken actions about these from our servers.

Notifying the support of a remote server as a source for abuse can also be useful, which you appear to have done.

Good luck!
