so-called #AI #cameras (more likely simple pattern matching rather than #LLM) are deployed in #Sussex in SE #England to catch #drivers who are #speeding, not wearing #seatbelts and/or using #mobilePhones at the wheel (interestingly these ones are not attempting to detect #DUI compared to others tried out in SW England and already widely used in #Australia , maybe because this isn't that easy to do (especially when sober drivers may be swerving to avoid #potholes)

@vfrmedia I recently drove some rental, relatively new. Some VW thing. In like 15 minutes it started telling me I'm tired and I should make a break.

What kind of AI/pattern matchers are they putting onto the cars these days?

@zlatko VW have had this "driver alert system" in varying forms for a decade or more (its apparently activated on my own car, a 2018 Golf GTI, and was also there on the 2015 Polo I previously owned, although I've never seen a warning from it).

The amount of data it gets varies depending what assistance systems and sensors the vehicle has, but whilst it does collect data as the car is driven its not *that* "intelligent" and could easily be confused by changing road conditions and a car that is used by multiple people (its likely whoever had the car before you might have driven in such a way that made it more sensitive)
