we need to talk about these negative reviews in #gnome #software. they're absolutely useless?

I wonder if that's why #flathub and #bazaar don't show them?

even with a bad bug report I'm happy to help track down the problem. this however leaves me with nothing but a bad feeling.

perhaps we can ask to file a report when users select a 1 or 2 star review. the link is right there in the metainfo file...

in the proprietary app world this may be expected because it's harder to engage with the developers.

but we have the benefit to actually reach out and fix stuff fast.

@hbons assuming that there even is a bug.

When reading a lot of these reviews, one can easily get the impression that stuff is more fundamentally broken on those machines.

I remember a time with flatpaks where people would scrap together their desktop environment because they need everything minimalist and then be annoyed that stuff is broken when they just didn't install the required desktop integrations, e.g. portals or missing needed environment variables.

@sheogorath interesting observation. would love to see the distro spread on that, but I don't think that's tracked. :P
@hbons @sheogorath the distro gets tracked, the installation method does not for some reason (atleast as I understand)
