Could you imagine living in 1969? Sending astronauts to the moon. Fighting a useless war and the president is a crook.
@cmconseils   was there.

@TheEddieShow @cmconseils

Me too.
Once of my earliest memories is of watching Neil Armstrong stepping onto the moon on my Nan's telly.

@snaprails @TheEddieShow @cmconseils I'm surprised it was economically viable to get your Nan's telly to the moon for him to step on! 1969 payload costs were bonkers.
@duncan_bayne @TheEddieShow @cmconseils
Indeed, which is why it was much easier to bring the moon down onto my Nan's telly 🙂
@snaprails @TheEddieShow @cmconseils Economies of scale there too, since it was so many tellies at once 🙃
@cmconseils But also acid and good music :(

@cmconseils

Monty Python did a sketch around that time.

“Wow look at page 8 - Nixon’s had an asshole transplant.”
“Have you seen the ‘stop press’? The asshole rejected him.”

@cmconseils Ah good old Tricky Dicky!

A beacon of sanity and honesty.

How I miss him.

/s but I am not completely sure as he got caught in the end.

@cmconseils yes, this is my 2nd time around. 😣
@cmconseils

Was born in
early 1970 (was supposed to have been born in early December of 1969). So, I was still living in the immediate aftermath of those events.

Soon enough, we'll have the de-orbiting of the ISS to look forward to in the same way that we had the de-orbiting of SkyLab to look forward to.

@cmconseils

I know. The astronauts didn't even have group hugs on TV in 69. It must have been horrible.

@cmconseils At least they had better hair. ^^
@cmconseils can you imagine what it must have been like back then ... then ... then [fade to 1969, gas is $0.35 ($3.19 adjusted for inflation)]
@cmconseils Ah, to live in a time when the other two branches of government and the Fourth Estate were still slightly useful.
@cmconseils being born then was quite the thing for me.
@cmconseils yep I can I was seven years old in 1969 and as Armstrong put his big boot on the moon in Australia we had conscription for The Viet Nam War.
@cmconseils
This gives me hope the 2030s will be like the 1980s.
@cmconseils Déjà vu, much…?
@cmconseils I was there. I'm nostalgic for it - Nixon's crimes are only about a week's worth of this year's crimes. And there was only one useless war. And there were intrepid WaPo reporters ON IT. And we only read the news once a day.
@cmconseils At least we had Woodstock. 😄
@cmconseils
Oh how times have changed.
Nearly 60 years of progress for the Americans!
@cmconseils Like lots of others, I was there. The orange disaster, however, makes Nixon and friends look like Boy Scouts. And they were truly terrible.
