Another cold, cloudy, post-rain day, & another LBF (little black fly), because there's not much else going on in the garden.

And another experiment with Shine Stacker to macro stack. Very buggy on start up, but when it works, it works well.

iNaturalist suggests this is a Seedcorn Maggot (Delia platura; 🇩🇪 Bohnenfliege).

Maaaaybe ... 🤷‍♂️

By the way, that fresh pine surface the fly is sitting on is a new bee hotel in the garden.

As in it's a bee hotel I've had for ages, but which I've finally got around to putting up in the garden.

At least one bee has already filled one of the chambers drilled into a piece of wood, & I'll be interested to see how many others take up residence when it's warmer & sunnier again.

@markmccaughrean Is it a bee hotel or a Bee&Bee?
@slowe So far just one inhabitant, so more like Sergeant Honey's Lonely Bee's Club Band.
