Useful thoughtful public service
@TheBreadmonkey doesn't even have to be their flyers. Could be a random pizza menu. Just sayin' 😂
@cazmockett @TheBreadmonkey and here's me putting my dogshit in the bin like a chump
@TheBreadmonkey Does it have to be just unwanted reform leaflets? Can it be any junk mail? 🤔
@BenCotterill @TheBreadmonkey Or a box of bricks?
@toxy @TheBreadmonkey Royal Mail charge for the size of the parcel too. Send the leaflet back in a massive empty box.

@BenCotterill @TheBreadmonkey I already had the address, thanks to #geri - I've sent them 10 left-over xmas cards with the message 'fuck off, fascists'.

That's £25 less in their bitcoin kitty.

Fuck all fascists.

@Oyu_Fka Hello, I think your getting the at sign (@) and the octothorp (#) mixed up.

I.e. your latest toot mentions #Geri and #TheBreadMonkey.

I think you mean @Geri and @TheBreadmonkey
👍

@BenCotterill @Geri @TheBreadmonkey You are right, lol, only when I used the @ symbol it didn't highlight so I assumed the # was the correct symbol. Mistake noted, thank you for clarification 🙂.
@BenCotterill
What wat WHAT?! I work in telcos since it was still analog, but it's the first time I heard the term 'octothorp'. I already love it.
@Geri @TheBreadmonkey
@TheBreadmonkey same strategy is also an option when a group/company you don’t want to hear from provides reply paid envelopes

@joannaholman @TheBreadmonkey

I return those with a wooden shim in the envelope, which prevents them from going through the machine. Costs more that way. (In the US.)

@TheBreadmonkey We had one of these through the door at 9:30pm one evening last week. We literally have a sign on our door that says "NO FLYERS".

Reform UK is a party that doesn't understand consent, and that doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

@DJDarren did it arrive with that exact address though? Apparently it's their old headquarters... See:

groff 🇺🇦 (@[email protected])

@[email protected] Reform moved out of there in August 2024. It's just costing Royal Mail money to process letters that won't go anywhere.

@ku @DJDarren
I think it only matters if its tied to their current billing account
@DJDarren @TheBreadmonkey @PetraPhoenix comment from chat last night:
Me: someone just put shit through my letterbox
Streamer: that's disgusting.
Me: you could tell it was shit, it said reform UK on it
@DJDarren @TheBreadmonkey
It could simply be that their supporters in your area can't read?

@TheBreadmonkey

Not just Reform flyers presumably. Could this be the future of all junk mail? The price of an envelope is well worth the cost of sticking it to Farage.

@TheBreadmonkey
How much does it cost them if you include a few bricks in the package?

@TheBreadmonkey FEWER!

But otherwise a great idea.

I wonder what will happen if I send them a letter to that address from here in Norway?

Using the same address for the return address.

@TheBreadmonkey would they not have pre paid this though? these things are a pre paid service, that's how they get that special code.
@TheBreadmonkey doesn't this mean you send them your address?
@TheBreadmonkey Too late, I’ve defaced mine with biro much to the merriment of my elderly Mum, scrunched it up threw it in recycling.
@AAA365a @TheBreadmonkey you could just draw a penis or a turd on a paper and send that instead. Wouldn't even change the message of the original
@AAA365a @TheBreadmonkey Same here! I'd probably get done for sending obscene material through the post.
@TheBreadmonkey Brilliant idea this. Let's do it!
@TheBreadmonkey Collect all your junk mail for the week, and send them it all. Along with perhaps some helpful suggestions about their policies...

@TheBreadmonkey I frequently see people recommending this course of action.

I've never seen any evidence that it has actually worked. For example, the resulting costs on the victim's election expenses return.

@TimWardCam @TheBreadmonkey

surely the costs would be swallowed by the party's central budget rather than individual candidates?

@vfrmedia @TheBreadmonkey Depends. If it's a leaflet relating to a particular candidate during the short campaign I'd expect it to have to go against that candidate.
@TheBreadmonkey Out of interest, the legal position is that Ruk have a contract with PO on A Freepost Licence worth defined conditions. This is potentially misuse of that licence and theoretically Ruk could take you to civil court. Unlikely for an individual, but they might go after those seen to promote the licence's misuse of their conditions.
@TheBreadmonkey The post office have, many times, successfully sued folks attempting to send bricks

@TheBreadmonkey You can usually 'return' up to 2kg of 'flyers' to them, but be careful as they will be changed by weight.

A house brick for example weighs about 2kg.

Please do not send them house bricks with that address on though as it would be very expensive for them to receive. 🙂

@TawdryHepburn @TheBreadmonkey

I checked the conditions for the usual Freepost service and max is 100g small letter, but they get charged the same whether its one bit of paper or the full 100g..

@TheBreadmonkey this is wrong address =someone sais they had a new address is that right
@TheBreadmonkey Old address. They moved to Millbank Tower.

@TheBreadmonkey I assume “Freepost” only applies to within the UK and I can’t send anything from Sweden? Must read some small print. 🧐

[EDIT]: If any EU/UK postal-ninjas know the score then let me know; I know a few people here happy to let Reform know about their level of support over here. Valuable feedback.

@TheBreadmonkey Cheers for this, it just became useful
