background: in spring 2020 I was commuting to work each weekday, 44km round trip. I wanted to keep my fitness. I was also aware of the 🇦🇺 lockdown rule of only exercising within 2km of your home (although 🇬🇧 never had that) and the 😷 burden I'd bring if something went wrong 20km from home. And so I started a 14 lap 44km daily ride.
And last week after nearly 6 years I rode my 10,000th lap.
It's the next best thing to a velodrome: quiet smooth roads, fairly flat, lit on dark mornings.

Alexander@FourT4 @ascentale @bikenite thinkng about all the routines and temporal changes you will likely have seen on the way round. Yourself being a familiar sight to many. Most likely some wondering what is it with that bloke on a bike whp keeps passing by.
@BongoTwisty @ascentale @bikenite there are about 15 people I recognise, and a huge cast of extras in whose lives I am a regular feature even if I don't know it. New kids starting their first walk to secondary school in September. Trees throughout the seasons. Potholes coming and going. All this will be lost, like tears in rain.
