1/64 car no. 105: I'm following up my 122S by jumping a couple of decades to the lesser-seen pre-facelift Volvo 850. In the US, this version was only available for two years, as a fully-equipped GLT for 1993 and decontented into a new base trim for 1994, at which point the GLT and Turbo models got updated headlights and bumpers. As it happens, I'll be modeling the headlights and bumpers as part of the base, so pre- and post-facelift variants will be possible. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale
Just have the raised center portion of the hood/grille to go to complete the overall exterior shape, then a few minor details like door and hood cut lines and the sunroof to finish the exterior completely. This is a nice simple one. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale
...And that's the outer body shell, complete for now. Most Volvos have that one extra little bit of asymmetry to add toward the end—the diagonal grille bar. Plenty to do before I get there. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale
Base is done. Body is mostly there, but there are always details to add once the interior is added to the mix. I've started numbering and dating the bases again, so we'll always know exactly where this one fell in the sequence. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale #Volvo
A full complement of seats. I believe this will be the oldest car I've modeled to date with a rear center headrest. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale #Volvo
Inching closer. Still needs wheels, a dashboard, and a steering wheel, but the body is done—note the gas cap and the diagonal grille bar. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale
