1/64 car no. 105: I'm following up my 122S by jumping a couple of decades to the lesser-seen pre-facelift Volvo 850. In the US, this version was only available for two years, as a fully-equipped GLT for 1993 and decontented into a new base trim for 1994, at which point the GLT and Turbo models got updated headlights and bumpers. As it happens, I'll be modeling the headlights and bumpers as part of the base, so pre- and post-facelift variants will be possible. #WeirdCarMastodon #164scale
Of course, we never got the pre-facelift 850 wagon in North America. I had already owned a then-10-year-old 850 wagon before I even found out a pre-facelift version had existed!
@autonerdery My parents bought a red one when they were brand new.

@Mark the signature color in ’93, just like the one Sally Field drove in "Mrs. Doubtfire"!

The 850 was a really cleverly designed car, very roomy and comfortable and quite nice to drive. Unfortunately, it also seems to have ushered in the modern era of Volvos that become very expensive to own once they reach a certain point in their life cycle, though if you're willing to invest they can still be very long-lived.
