After nearly 3 month in the making, my current project is "finished" (there is still a lot to improve), so here is another #notQuiteWeekly projects update.

I build a lamp, inspired by a flower blossom, made from plywood with 3D printed parts. I designed the project in #OpenSCAD and printed out templates to use with a router to cut out the parts. 🧡

Edit: The files are available here, though not very polished yet: https://github.com/Aberderbart/flamp

It has a ring of LED strips pointing towards the ceiling and a center panel providing the main lights. I built a mechanism inside that open up the lamp using a servomotor.

For control, I use #esphome, though I will probably switch to using arduino-esp32, which provides matter support.

Overall, I am very happy with the result.

@AberDerBart do you plan to share the blueprints on thingiverse or anything?

with additional coloured leds, this would be a perfect substitute to my shitty lolasmart lamp

@schaf I plan to release the files, but they need some cleanup work first, so it will probably take a few weeks (feel free to poke me to do this, it is more of a motivation thing than an available time thing)

The files are now in an acceptable state. There is still a lot to document, especially assembly instructions. You can find the files here: https://github.com/Aberderbart/flamp

Feel free to contact me or open an issue if you want to build one yourself and have questions.

@schaf

@AberDerBart alright that is cool as all hell
@AberDerBart okay that is very cool
@AberDerBart Curious as to the effect on levels of light. Or patterns of light. Not entirely clear from what you show, but it's right awesome.
@AberDerBart WOW! this lamp is amazing!
@AberDerBart ΠΊΠ°ΠΊ красиво ΠΏΠΎΠ»ΡƒΡ‡ΠΈΠ»ΠΎΡΡŒ!!!
@AberDerBart beautiful 😍

@vicgrinberg @AberDerBart

Musicians will appreciate the inclusion of giant guitar picks!

@AberDerBart  that is some next lvl design!
@AberDerBart @DrJLecter "That's so cool", the burglar says right before the security lamp launches at them...
@catsalad πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ™Š @AberDerBart
@catsalad @AberDerBart @DrJLecter please tell me it has RGB LEDs so it can turn red when it sees intruders
@pix @catsalad @DrJLecter Its just warm white/cold white, but it is all LED strips, so you can easily swap them for RGB ones πŸ˜‰
@catsalad @DrJLecter small spoiler for the next lighting project I am planning: I want to build articulated desk lighting inspired by the personality cores from Portal that can rotate the "eye"/light in arbitrary directions within an angle range
@AberDerBart
so pretty 😍
@AberDerBart That's really pretty. πŸ‘Œ
@AberDerBart this is fantastic 😻
@AberDerBart That's amazing. It's clear to see where the time has gone. I didn't even spot the smaller leaves until the 4th loop. If you ever put it in an Instructables competition I hope you get something. Very cool
@AberDerBart very cool bionic Design! πŸ€©πŸ΅οΈπŸ‘
Woaah, that's nice! You should be proud of yourself! :)
