Thread with notes on my #meshcore experiment 🧵

Given the most recent issues with #meshtastic (uncollaborative MQTT chatters, limited number of hops, difficulty in convincing others to change device roles), I decided to give MC a try. I'll document the journey here as I go.

I've tried the exact same #LoRa properties in both #meshtastic and #meshcore (BW=250, SF=11, CR=5). In my ping tests, the maximum range with Meshtastic is at least 15% longer than MeshCore. I wonder what's causing this difference.

Edit: something got loose the day I flashed the firmware. I redid all connections and now it's working exactly like Meshtastic.

@py2toz same frequency (could be extra interference on one)? They may also use the radio slightly differently. The firmwares have different power curves for different boards etc. Or just a random variation that would go away with hundreds of packets?
@alec I just found out the issue. Something got loose, coincidentally the same day I flashed the firmware. I redid all connections and it suddenly had the same SNR I had before with Meshtastic.
@py2toz that would do it!
