The people who don’t view housing as a human right are those who believe they will always have housing.

They can’t fathom becoming disabled, losing their savings or their support network.

They can’t comprehend having everything ripped away from them.

They think they’re the exception.

They’re not.

People don’t plan for homelessness or disability.

It just takes one accident, illness or stroke of bad luck.

We all need and deserve a safety net.

@broadwaybabyto For me, it has always been about being jobless.

I have very saleable skills, lots of experience, have always been able to find jobs. But I have always also been aware that this is not certain. That the next job may not be there.

And what would I do then?

So many people cannot fathom not being able to get a job. Not being able to pay their bills. Not being able to support their family. But if you lose a job, that may be the case.

And that is capitalism in a nutshell. And in there is the heart of why it needs to go.
