@jd Either might makes right (whoever *can* control the Strait gets to) or we all agree on a common set of rules we all adhere to (which isn't exactly something either Israel, the US, or Iran are historically good at). I really don't see any other possible options there, just slight variations of those two.

@jd We're kind of seeing the prisoner's dilemma play out in front of us, with one major caveat: the prisoners have full knowledge of what everyone else is choosing to do but almost everyone is still too selfish and short-sighted to see that working together is objectively the better choice. Its one thing to make the selfish choice when you don't know what the other person will choose, it's ridiculous to get to negotiate with the other prisoner and you *still* choose destructive selfishness.
