I am retiring in four days. The last time I will ever have to use Microsoft Windows and Visual Studio will be Thursday morning.

I can't escape completely - my Epson bulk photo scanner doesn't seem to have a Linux driver - but I won't be compelled to use Windows for eight hours a day five days a week, and my usage will be in a stripped back virtual machine.

No more f****** Copilot, or Outlook or SharePoint 365 crap. I can't wait. It's #FOSS from now on.

@dave

No more Microslop???

@dave

That’s a wonderful milestone! Congratulations on your retirement! Enjoy the new chapter, and may your Linux setup serve you well! πŸŽ‰πŸ§

@dave Congratulations on your full return* to sanity!!!

*Well, as full as it can ever be as we are all forced to use Microslop somehow...😭

@dave I'm still using Windows ... but without the 17 layers of corporate security theatre crapware the word is now "using" rather than "fighting to be allowed to use".
@dave Enjoy your retirement, the freedom to sleep in and do your sport when and where you want is wonderful πŸ€—
@dave Happy retirement Dave !!
Is it the FF-680W? I use that on Linux with Vuescan. Not free but works.
@dave I think a Stackoverflow dev survey found an awful lot of FOSS is retiree authored. Enjoy the freedom!
@boggin
After 40 years of working as a software engineer at the coal face (very little of that management nonsense) I'm very keen to give something back.
