#ScribesAndMakers Apr. 1: How many creative projects do you have going right now?

One.

Now, ask me how many *professional* projects I have going?

Actually, no, don't...

#ScribesAndMakers Apr. 2: What does imposter syndrome mean to you and do you think you have it?

I don't think I do, actually. I know what I'm good at, and know what I'm not good at.

#ScribesAndMakers Could you do a scrapbook accompanying your current creative process?

I'm very visual in my storytelling, but I don't have any interest in representing the story in anything but words *unless* it were adapted to a visual medium: animation, comics, or live-action. Then, a whole different set of storytelling options present themselves.

#ScribesAndMakers Have dreams ever inspired by your creative work?

Not directly, but I am channelling the experience of finding yourself awake and terrified by a nightmare but also safe in your own bed. Of course, in my book, the nightmares literally chase them into waking life, so...

#ScribesAndMakers Would your current creative project make a good game?

Maybe one of those multi-branch, choose-your-dialogue games punctuated by *intense* fight scenes? I can see places where different kinds of relationships could form with secondary characters but not derail the central narrative, where different secondary characters could have different fates. Sure. Yeah. One of those could work.

#ScribesAndMakers Our next featured creator is a professor. Does any of your work involve professors and/or universities?

(Hey, that's me!)

I do have a tentative short story cycle about a magical university that is very much me venting about plagiarism and campus politics. I should get back into that.

#ScribesAndMakers What's a feature of SF that you find interesting?

I reviewed a scholarly book on SF that pointed out the premise of most speculative fiction is some kind of "what if?" That's the thing that I think hooks a lot of us:

What if peaceful space exploration? (Star Trek)

What if war over ultimate magical weapon? (Lord of the Rings)

What if...?

This can be "just" adventure/wonder but it can also be a deep thought experiment. It's a HUGE palette to play with.
