Before a few years ago, I'd never seen or even heard of a tree creeper. Now, they're one of my favourite birds.

Watching them move up a tree is fascinating and I was lucky enough to see one stay still enough to get relatively close for this photo.

Does anyone else have a soft spot for these wonderful birds?

@johnmwildlife Yes! We’ve had them nest under the eaves of our house and watched the babies crawl backwards down the brick until they dared to fly off to mom calling from a nearby tree. It was quite a sight!
@DarlavdRiet Oh wow! That really is incredible and must have been quite special to experience.
@johnmwildlife We have both kinds in our garden, but I don’t know what the other one, the blue one, is called in English. One flies to the bottom of a tree and works its way up and the other goes both up and down. We live on the edge of the forest, with tall pines that they love, so we see them every year. I sometimes put wild bird food in between the bark for them. Fascinating birds!

@DarlavdRiet @johnmwildlife that is a nuthatch.

Both fascinating birds. We don't have exactly the same species here, but we do have nuthatches and the occasional brown creeper (similar to the tree creeper). One goes down the tree, the other up.

@flipper @DarlavdRiet Ah yes! I'm really wanting to see and photograph a nuthatch but haven't seen one yet. Hopefully our paths will cross soon though.
