Thread with notes on my #meshcore experiment 🧵

Given the most recent issues with #meshtastic (uncollaborative MQTT chatters, limited number of hops, difficulty in convincing others to change device roles), I decided to give MC a try. I'll document the journey here as I go.

I've tried the exact same #LoRa properties in both #meshtastic and #meshcore (BW=250, SF=11, CR=5). In my ping tests, the maximum range with Meshtastic is at least 15% longer than MeshCore. I wonder what's causing this difference.

Edit: something got loose the day I flashed the firmware. I redid all connections and now it's working exactly like Meshtastic.

@Bruno PY2TOZ how did you test?
@mario I just replaced the firmware in two base stations I own, and which are 10 km apart. Haven't moved them or anything like that. The stations stopped reaching each other, and in the road, I must get significantly closer to either of them to establish a link now with my mobile node.
