Are there any Sci-Fi writers communities on the Fediverse already?

I see there are hash-tag such as:

โ€ข #SciFiFridays
โ€ข #SciFiSaturdays
โ€ข #SciFiSundays

But, I am not noticing people posting their own sci-fi stories or videos there.

Maybe they exists already, and I'm not looking at the right places.

UPDATE: #MicroFiction and #TootFic seem to be pretty active.

#SciFi

@reiver

wandering.shop has been here since April 2017. LITERALLY founded by/for SF&F fans and writers to keep the vibe going between cons.

Lots of workshopping, chatter, and writing prompts as well as the hashtags you mention + other niche ones on the local timeline.

Also prone to much randomness and creative nonsense of all genres. For some reason I landed there following knitters and AI Weirdness (Janelle Shane).

@reiver

BTW if anyone wants to join that instance, it's invite-only but we consider it more like "say hello and someone'll hold the door wide open". Sort of a communal know-your-client model, it works REALLY well for sustainable growth and a "new friends at book club/coffeeshop" vibe.

Fling a message @proprietor . Can also just cruise the local public timeline and see who looks fun, though unfortunately some of our notable members stay out of discoverability now. (spam/fishing/harassment)

@reiver people here use #bookstodon to promote (other people's) books. (see also group: @ bookstodon )

I don't see authors using a specific hashtag when promoting their own books, other than a genre indicator like #romantasy

@reiver

Don't know where you got those hashtags from I can see exactly one other post than yours for one of them, no others.

But #SciFi has a lot of what I imagine you're looking for.

@adaddinsane @reiver You can make whatever hashtags you want. That's how they start.
@reiver I am only in one writing community, #writerscoffeeclub, but I see others by virtue of friends who are in them. There seems to be a preponderance of spec-fic overall in the Fediverse writing community.
@reiver Specifically for SF? None that I've come across. I see (and use) people use #spaceopera #scifi #scifibooks but that's about it.
@reiver They perhaps use #sff or #writingcommunity or #writing

@dilmandila @reiver I find some under the writing community tag, but the real way I see that sort of thing is to find SF writers and then to follow them.

Hashtags get used much more sparingly here than on a platform like IG. Many (myself included) simply ignore a post if there's a big hashtag salad at the end.

@reiver I see a fair bit of SHORT short stories posted under #tootfic and #microfiction. they're typically (but not always) sci-fi or fantasy.

@reiver

Whenever I mention my SF series (very spicy, planetbound and more space opera than hard SF), I use the hashtags # ScienceFiction or SF (depending on space, tbh).

But yeah, join the writing games and you'll find a lot of authors, plenty writers of SF among them.

# WordWeavers
# WritersCoffeeClub
# PennedPossibilities
# ScribesAndMakers

I hope that helps, too.
