Thread with notes on my #meshcore experiment 🧵

Given the most recent issues with #meshtastic (uncollaborative MQTT chatters, limited number of hops, difficulty in convincing others to change device roles), I decided to give MC a try. I'll document the journey here as I go.

I've tried the exact same #LoRa properties in both #meshtastic and #meshcore (BW=250, SF=11, CR=5). In my ping tests, the maximum range with Meshtastic is at least 15% longer than MeshCore. I wonder what's causing this difference.

Edit: something got loose the day I flashed the firmware. I redid all connections and now it's working exactly like Meshtastic.

@py2toz I am no expert but by gut instinct says that difference is well below the random error margin one would expect when taking account of antenna position and how that sensitively influences signal to noise...but then again.. maybe you are testing very strictly.
