The job hunt is soul-sucking, an awful part of modern life where you try not to let it hurt you but it does anyway because people keep judging and rejecting, or completely ignoring you. Horrible. Solidarity.

@sarajw thank you! the lack of empathy I've seen from people throughout this entire process has been so eye opening. I feel like I've lost even more hope in humanity whilst going through this experience (I know there are 1000 reasons, but here's just one more).

@jedda it's miserable. I don't know how people don't remember, or maybe it's not happened to them in a long time.

I explained to my mum what applying for (tech) jobs is like right now. That you're lucky to get a response, and then if you do, you might have some terrible multiple choice quiz to do, and then either live coding a mystery problem or a few hour's homework, on which you might get grilled on your choices.

Mum was amazed. She said you basically used to get hired based on personality.

@jedda yep she's a boomer. They walked into jobs. Being hired on personality is a whole other issue in itself, but it was clearly easier.

@jedda There's no guide book.  You handle that crap that life throws at us in your own way, based on your own experiences, and skills.  No one is judging.

You can look back and reflect, but never criticise yourself as you didn't know then what you know now.
