My new bike! I spent about 30 minutes today and I for sure could have spent far longer.

Am lucky that there are some bike paths around here because riding on actual roads is a lil more scary. But I''ll get used to it!

I really really want to hop on and go for another ride but the soreness of my body says maaaaaybe pace myself a bit.

Think I'll use komoot to plan myself a nice long ride tomorrow before the rain hits on the weekend.

@MsHearthWitch getting the balance between "too sore to ride" and "building strength and stamina" is a delicate balance.

Erring on the side of not sore enough to build up is probably better. It allows habits to form which is good.

Optimal seat height can help soreness, and that seat looks pretty low unless you are very short (no shade if you are)

@LovesTha I am incredibly short, that seat is maybe even a teeensy bit too high (but I can comfortably touch the ground while on it)

My inseam is a whole 23 inches! (stubby legs, normal torso lolol)

I am coming from a place of being not really active at all, so pacing is better, probably.

(I really wanna take it on an after dinner ride)

@MsHearthWitch Super glad I put the clause about height in, made me sound like less of a dick :)

Backing in slowly is important. My first ride last year, after a big break, was only 1.8km (a hair over 1 mile) and that was a good start back.

5 days later I did 5km.

A year later I'm doing 50km.

Over doing it destroys motivation, and makes it hard to get back onto the bike soon.

@LovesTha Haha, you're all good!

I went out again tonight and did 4km and I'm feeling it, but I had fun! The rain is supposed to come on Sat so I'm trying to get some rides in now. Definitely used more of the ebike capacity this evening especially on the back half.

@MsHearthWitch That is one benefit of ebikes: you can try too hard and then just use the motor more when you realise that :)
@LovesTha Yup! That was one of the reasons I wanted one. It seemed a great way to honour my out of shape self but also get some exercise.

@MsHearthWitch Rain can be annoying, but your fenders should make wet roads/paths not too annoying.

I dislike rides that start in the rain but then the rain ends. Ones that start sunny and end wet are okay, if the end of the ride has a shower :)

@LovesTha That makes sense! Idk that I'll be going for super long rides, probably just 15 min lil jaunts. So can come home and have a soak in the tub if needed :)
@MsHearthWitch Congrats! And a beautiful bike :)
@MsHearthWitch Nice looking bike. Hope you continue to like riding it
