What are the best alternatives to #VSCode right now for #Linux? I'm using #VSCodium and have seen some language-specific products, but is there anything #FOSS with support for multiple languages *with a GUI*? I would like to give gvim a chance, but I don't want to spend more time on my #IDE than the project I'm working on.

#LinuxMint #programming

VSCode is the industry standard today.
But you can try ZED.
@secbox Kate has git, lsp support and syntax highlighting out of the box

@muri I completely forgot about Kate; on my host machine, I just use it for removing text formatting. 😆

I'll try it now. Thank you!

@secbox
Good old #Eclipse doesn't work for you?
@lardier I hadn't heard of Eclipse. Thanks!

@secbox i think you'll get a lot of recommendations for kate. i'm currently using zed. not sure zed qualifies as Free but it's definitely Open Source.

additionally, i enjoy geany from time to time but it is not terribly ergonomic.
