True.

Fact Check: Trump once said Obama would start war with Iran due to his inability to negotiate

In a years-old video that resurfaced online in early 2026 amid increasing U.S. tensions with Iran, Trump also called Obama "weak" and "ineffective."

I wasn't alive for World War I or World War II, but I'm beginning to think I understand how they got started ... as I hear Trump and Netanyahu calling for everybody to join in their war.

Has anyone seen any confirmation that the United States attacked an Iranian desalination plant?

"On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the United States of striking a desalination plant in southern Iran."

Middle East desalination plant attacks highlight risks of relying on "fossil fuel water"

Destroying the facilities is “the most grievous kind of war crime that you can dream up.”

Mother Jones

Actually that's a great article for discussion of how energy intensive desalination is. Perhaps not everybody is aware how energy intensive it is to get salt out of water.

If you do it yourself, you boil the water and condense it elsewhere without the impurities. That requires the energy to boil the water completely. Desalination plants use reverse osmosis.

Either way it is unwinding a very stable energy state, and that's very costly. Very much like removing carbon dioxide from the air.

But anyway, if the United States is attacking Iranian desalination plants then they will shut down the Strait no question

Anyway anyway ... best before dates are hardly even recommendations. Canned food lasts for years beyond that date. Frozen food is good too.

Boy, I really thought we left this behind after the pandemic but I guess not. Fun times. Got to love Republican criminals. Just ... the worst people on Earth

Here is Trump saying Obama will start a war with Iran to get elected, and that you have to exhaust other possibilities before you go to war to stop them from having nuclear weapons.

"We have a President who does not know anything about negotiations."

We certainly do.

Here's a map showing Qeshm Island on which that desalination plant was located.

It may or may not be outfitted with drones to attack ships, apparently. Clearly a good place to put them, although why use flying drones if you can use underwater ones these days.

Peak COVID demand contraction was 20 million barrels of oil.

We have just lost 20 million barrels of supply.

So oil needs to move to some price that causes us to replicate global lock-down (i.e. drop the use of 20 million barrels of oil).

Inside Trump's daily video montage briefing on the Iran war

WASHINGTON — Each day since the start of the war in Iran, U.S. military officials compile a video update for President Donald Trump that shows video of the biggest, most successful strikes on Iranian targets over the previous 48 hours, three current U.S. officials and a former U.S. official said

Warnings that inflation could hit 8% if energy system stays disrupted.

Increases are already hitting fertilizer costs, and the inflation for that will hit consumers in the coming months (it hasn't already).

Edit: That's for the countries that can pay. The ones that can't pay the higher prices simply won't get fuel.

So Iran has sent their plan back.

It includes recognition of a sovereign right over the Strait of Hormuz and also war reparations.

So yeah, it sounds like the parties are basically settled. 🤡

It's going to be fun when inflation hits 4 or 5% because of this. By fun I mean a disaster.

And poorer countries are not going to be able to afford fuel shortly.

I like this commentator's point which is don't track Trump's comments, track the administration's movements.

And right now they have moved troops to the Middle East.

Last night I was falling asleep,

And I'm pretty sure I could hear Iran laughing.

This hysterical and overly emotional Trump should really step down.

Old white men like Trump are far too emotional to hold posts like that of President.

An F-15E was downed in Iran and weapons tech still missing.

The U.S. and Iran are now in a race to find the weapons tech because if that person is caught by Iran there will be huge political ramifications. The U.S. public has very little appetite for losing soldiers.

One of the rescue helicopters came under fire.

Okay so the United States got nothing and Iran gets $2 million per ship that transits the Strait of Hornuz which will be paid in Chinese yuan.

Definitely sounds like a trump win. I mean the guy bankrupted everything he ran so this is par for the course.

Now the other thing people might find interesting is that international law is largely based on whatever happened yesterday. So this 2-week tariff thing, if it turns into a 6-month tariff thing might turn into a 1-year tariff thing might turn into a forever tariff thing.

(You might think I'm joking but after treaties, there's very little but "custom" in international law)

Lingering concerns about oil include that production is still not back to 100% and it will take a while to get back there, because infrastructure has been destroyed.

The war has also made clear that Iran controls the Strait, and this may become a point of leverage from now on.

Energy prices coming down lowers the pressure of rate hikes to fight inflation. However note the point above about pre-war levels.

Separate analysis:

"The bottom line: The "broad rally in asset prices and lower oil prices reflects a reduction in tail risks, not a material improvement in the underlying outlook," strategists at TD Bank wrote in a new note.

"Meanwhile, it will take many months for energy supply to return to something closer to normal, and several months of data volatility will leave central banks cautious," they added."

I'm just going to make a comment here which is if one plays these high pressure games, then when it finally comes time to sit down and talk one had to do that on a short timeframe, because one has ratcheted up the pressure and one needs to move quickly.

However.

There's no world that Trump or his goons are doing that. 🤡

(To be clear, that's even if one had a hope of negotiating a deal and I don't think these white supremacists had a hope of doing so.)

Is there such a thing as a single-sided ceasefire?
I guess that's just retreat 🤣
