For those of you who came from functional families, this incessant back and forth oscillation between terror and relief, random attacks, and perpetual gaslighting are exactly what its like to be in a dysfunctional family.

@ra6bit
^this.

It’s far from the greatest of my objections to the man; but godchrist if he isn’t constantly re-triggering my ptsd.

@Gorfram @ra6bit

Abuse culture.

From the abusive personal relationship, to abusive family dynamics, to abusive institutions-- same pattern. Right down to the internalized bullies in our own heads.

Love is our liberation.

@ra6bit yeah, I dig it. And now we have a president doing that exact shit.
@ra6bit Yes it's my fucking childhood all over again
@ra6bit This feels like the first 20 or so years of my life. With much less waking up in the hospital not knowing how I got there.

@ra6bit

Absolute abuse.
My last supervisor and co-supervisor, persons in positions of authority, used these abusive tactics day in and day out.
Cruel, manipulative, crooked people.

@ra6bit @britt imagine being a gen-x Iraqi who’s also from a dysfunctional family…
@ra6bit Just like how things went on at home
@ra6bit Oooh, that's why people are surprised by all of this...functional families....makes sense now!
@ra6bit I remember one Thanksgiving when my family was temporarily dysfunctional and what a relief it was to go back to college.
I finally had a small taste of what some of my friends felt like.
