It came as no surprise Alpine started updating to Plasma 6.6.4 yesterday already. Nevertheless: 🥳

@thesaigoneer they’re a little behind… 😂
@jloc0 Compared to you everyone's behind

@thesaigoneer haha I was trying to point out the typo (at least I hope it’s a typo) 6.4.4 = 6.6.4 I hope lol

How is their plasma session? I’ve tried gnome, xfce, LXQT and sway on alpine but never kde. Various different issues with each one but nothing show-stopping just me-isms. But like what’s it ship? Do they do all the gear stuff as well?

@jloc0 I stand corrected 😝 Yes, 6.6.4 obviously, I'll edit the original one. Shouldn't do anything before coffee. Their Plasma is very nice and lean (I used the setup-desktop script). That script sets basically everything up for the user. Although the network worked ootb, I added NetworkManager. Give it a go, it is worth your time.
@thesaigoneer yeah I’ve used the script to do installs before, I just always skip trying kde cuz it’s kde but it’s oddly growing on me. Maybe I’ll sit down later and do an edge install and play with it.

@thesaigoneer And that despite me doing the work all alone 🙈 Luckily KDE is an awesome upstream to work with and they make it a breeze!

I would also recommend trying out the session on postmarketOS, still Alpine Linux but with all the systemd goodies.

#kde #postmarketOS #AlpineLinux #systemd

@bart I knew you were doing it, but not basically on your own. Which can become quite a burden! Your efforts are highly valued, at least by this geezer 😅 As for PostmarketOS: I tried the x86 image, which worked well. Up until now I couldn't get Duranium running, but it's been a while. And I'm very interested in image based workflows (used to build my own Aurora spin), so I'll keep track of that. Btw, if there's anything I can help out with drop me a DM?
@thesaigoneer Thanks for the offer and kind words! I'll almost definitely forget it but will try to keep it in mind 😄
