Well, they do get into the story arcs in later seasons.
But damn, the quality of the writing definitely shifts for the better when Brad Wright takes over. (Season 4-ish, I think?)
Unfortunately, haven't seen anything new from him since Travelers. (Which I may also have to rewatch, once I work my way through Stargate(s))
Yeah, I'm on ep 11, I think? I mean, there were eps I enjoyed in the first three seasons, but s4 I start encountereing the ones that are, "Oh, right, •this• ep 😁🍿" & "•Damn• I miss these people."
Some may not be to everyone's taste, but I'm a simple soul.
(In fairness, there's still some few that I fast forward through bits. But on balance, the baseline is much improved.)
@cavyherd @Snipehockey It's weird how quickly you can attach to characters in these old shows. They tend to have a lot of personality even if the show is incredibly stiff. I just want to keep watching so I can be a part of the team!
When does the Netflix quality start to get better? I can see Season 2 looks better than 1, but it still has compression artifacts everywhere.
Oh, I lied! S3 has some of my favorites, also! (Urgo 😂 🤣 🥰)
"I just want to keep watching so I can be a part of the team!" Right?? That's the whole dynamic that keeps me coming back, and is a hallmark of Wright's work.
As to video quality 🤷? I don't actually pay much attention. (It's also possible Netflix is playing badly with your platform. ISTR it having some fights with Chrome. Dunno if they've fixed that or I just stopped noticing.) >
(I grew up on b&w broadcast, where you were doing well if the shapes on the scren had discernible outlines, so I'm pretty impervious to poor video.)
May also depend on whether they were remastered, or just copied over from the DVDs. I do seem to remember seeing some interlacing (& who the hell thought •that• was a good idea??)
🤷 As I say, I am in general oblivious to those effects, unless they're really •really• bad. Strong brain filters, I guess?
Hah! Astigmatism can cover a multitude of sins! 😂 👍
