they both simplify multiple different things, so communism usually means the ideology of state-socialism, marxism and it's variants, whereas anarchism means the ideology of stateless-socialism
but the end goal of a world without money or government or class divisions, you could call that either anarchism or communism or anarchist-communism

Anarchism is the rejection of all authority here defined as the social construct of inherent right to be obeyed by designated inferiors.
Anarchism necessitates all the above qualifiers for communism, so in my view there is no anarchism that isn't also communist. But it also necessitates the dismantling of Human supremacy, state, patriarchy, ableism, sanism, white supremacy, cisheteromono-normativity, queermisia, sorry if I forgot anyone
And that gets into ideas from intersectional anarchism, veganarchism, anarcha-feminism, queer-anarchism, total liberation etc.

dragora@Geri @ambiguous_yelp That's literally how Marx defines it though. Pretty much every "Communist" country has admitted that they're not actually there but are instead in the transitional state socialism, dictatorship of the proletariat period.
@Geri I think you are thinking of Marxism-Leninism this is the common ideology that gets painted with a broad brush as "communism". Just because north korea calls itself democratic and hitlers regime "socialist" doesn't make it so. Likewise, the USSR and CCP are not and have never been communist.
Differences in ideology between Marxism-Leninism and Anarcho-Communism include whether or not they use the state the achieve their aims, whether the proletariat are organized horizontally or by vanguard party rule
Broadly speaking anarchists choose revolutionary strategies and tactics that are aligned with their stated goals whereas marxist leninists tend to use more ends justify the means thinking
Edit: I'm aware that ML's misinterpret marx in multiple areas and they use his name to self-label a kind of ideological lineage that is tenuous at best
