i like how in #esperanto FOSS licenses specifically are called "permesilo(j)", rather than "licenco(j)"

the former literally means "something that permits", which fits well, given that open-source licenses give the user extra rights, whereas proprietary EULAs usually take the user's existing rights away

@rnd «permesilo» is Esperanto's general term for a license, whether FOSS, proprietary, patent or even driver's.

All licenses do grant rights that you wouldn't (or might not necessarily) legally have otherwise (even if you maybe *should* have them, morally). Proprietary licenses just don't grant you *all* the rights necessary to have the four freedoms guaranteed by FLOSS.
