Hey, #US public announcement: #Tax filing is almost upon us. If you are mailing dead trees to the #IRS, Thursday the 9th is your last day to drop it in the postal box and have it delivered in time, according to the Postal Service. (#USPS)

If mailing after the 9th, you need to go to the post office, and go to a clerk and have it manually postmarked, so as to avoid kerfuffle and fines in the future.

@MissConstrue I'm not paying taxes until we have a government again.
@Netraven They take them out, and this is how I get them back. 🤷🏽‍♀️
@MissConstrue not like I can afford to pay anything anyhow. If USA doesn't collapse by next year, I'll consider it.
@Netraven My darling, I'm just hoping we make it through the next few days. Literally and seriously. I have never been this frightened about the possibility of nukes being used. By us.

@MissConstrue nah, more like israel.

the nukes by us problem has always been a problem. If you wanna worry about someone, worry about the barbarians that call themselves zionists.

besides... how many people in the short span of human history get to say they had a front row seat to the end of the world?

To be honest, I've had that feeling since I was 8 years old. So I apologize if I seem detached.

@MissConstrue amazed to hear that US still has a working Postal Service.

@otte_homan @MissConstrue

It's some level of working, just like most of the vehicles I've owned are 'some level of working'. Might be stopped for a few days, or I might be underneath with a wrench on the side of the road, but they meet some definition of "working"

@MissConstrue a small edit to this excellent advice: the Post Office has changed how they apply postmarks. It is not when you hand the mail to the clerk, but when the item enters the mail handling system. Yes, this does affect vote-by-mail. @Jjchr Yeah, it's crazy making. I had a postal employee, (a neighbor) tell me the trick of going to a clerk and getting them to manually postmark it for you while you watch.
@MissConstrue yeah, and that depends on where you live. In my area, they refuse to do it: they just say something to the effect of 'postmarks are applied by the sorting machines' and chuck the item in the bin. I guess one way to get around that is to pony up the bucks for certified....
@MissConstrue Are we going to get a tax filing deadline extension joke again this moon mission, like on Apollo 13?
@ZenHeathen I dunno man, none of these folks are test pilots are they? Test pilots have considerably less filter than most people. ;)
@MissConstrue probably a good idea to make them postmark it in front of you anyway, since USPS changed their policy to postmark things whenever they damn well feel like it instead of when you mailed it
