This was an awakening for me, too, so I researched and wrote a book about narcissists taking over - and destroying - our world. (See bio)
Only 1% of the population are sociopaths (narcissists, psychopaths, and/or Machiavellians), but they make up 25% of the violent prison population...and 21% of CEOs. They are literally incapable of caring about anyone but themselves. They will the death of humanity, as they have none themselves.
@elasticsoul Perhaps it's more important to distinguish between the mundane simplicity of "just bad", and purposefully disguising more complex profit schemes, with superficial meaning.
More and more of the wealthiest are investing in more global collapse, by further destabilizing their fields of profit, and banking the fallout - especially where root infrastructure is concerned. Fossil fuels, policy makers who profit/write directly for their fields/value spaces, #TechBros who invest in Trump crypto so they can corner data center markets, etc., etc..
It's an egregious ethical breach, that needs to be closed with the highest-and-best ethical scientists, asap.
