For those who wondered, yes, the “news” about GIMP finally supporting EGA 16-colour mode was an April Fool joke, along with the new memory-efficient 0-bit coluor mode.

I mean, there isn't really any natural law that says there can't be a #Wayland compositor that runs on #EGA hardware.

It would have the same chunky-to-planar-conversion overhead that complicated attempts to port #Doom to the #Amiga, but it's not impossible.
