Netatmo outside module died. Tried several different sets of new alkaline and fully charged nimhs with no success. Tried re-pairing and resetting the inside module to try and kick things. Tried umpteen Torx bits (super deep hole) to disassemble the module.

In a fit of desperation (and because I was already cleaning things with IPA), I cleaned the internal battery contacts.

MFW that was the problem.

(Bit poor for a weather-sealed module to be able to get dirt/corrosion on battery contacts though!)

On the plus side, the outside module dropped off again last night which I guess indicates it wasn’t just the contacts that needed cleaning.

Most irksome. I don’t want to have to fork out for a new system.

(Although this one has lasted me 12 years - not bad, considering.)

Although given it just does temperature + humidity (the indoor station does pressure), I could just slap an IP67 Zigbee sensor outside in the weather station and synthesise an entity in Home Assistant…

(There don’t seem to be any small / cheap Zigbee climate sensors that include pressure, annoyingly. But as someone pointed out, there’s not going to be a huge difference between internal and external atmospheric pressure anyway.)
