The Trinity Tower, Lublin, Poland

It is one of the city’s most important landmarks and a characteristic element of Lublin’s Old Town. It was built between 1826 and 1828 according to the design of the Italian architect Antonio Corazzi, who gave it a neo-Gothic style. The tower serves as the bell tower of the Lublin cathedral, which is one of the oldest churches in the city, with origins dating back to the 13th century.

The tower is about 57 meters tall and is the highest point in the city, visible from many places in Lublin. Its distinctive green-blue pyramidal roof is recognizable from afar. In its prime, it served defensive and sacred functions and was also an important navigational point within the city.

Today, the Trinity Tower functions as a museum — it houses the Archdiocesan Museum of Religious Art, where valuable exhibits related to spirituality and Church history are displayed. From the viewing platform at its top, there is a panoramic view of Lublin and its surroundings, making it a popular tourist spot.

What's unusual in this photo is the front of the building on the left. That's NOT perspective distortion! "They don't build 'em like that anymore."
Yes, the building has tilted walls! Several such tenement houses can be found in Lublin's Old Town. Another example is the beautiful tenement house I captured in the frame next to the Crown Tribunal. Its walls diverge at an angle from halfway down.

The Crown Tribunal, Lublin, Poland The Crown Tribunal in Lublin was the highest court of appeal for the nobility of Lesser Poland in the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It was established in 1578 at the General Sejm in Warsaw, when King Stefan Batory relinquished his powers as the highest judge in favour of the noble court. From that moment on, the Crown Tribunal became the highest court for matters of land law concerning the nobility. The building of the Crown Tribunal in Lublin was originally a Gothic town hall on the Old Town Square, built in the 14th century. After a fire in 1389, it was rebuilt and gradually remodelled, acquiring a Renaissance appearance in the 16th century and later a classicist shape in the 18th century during the reconstruction carried out by Dominik Merlini. The Crown Tribunal functioned in Lublin from 1579 to 1794, being the centre of judicial and political life of the nobility of Lesser Poland and Ruthenia, and having a significant impact on the character of the city during that period. Currently, the former Crown Tribunal building serves various administrative and cultural functions, including housing the Registry Office and hosting concerts and meetings. #TrybunalKoronny #Lublin #Polska #sadownictwo #historia #renesans #klasycyzm #zabytki #zabytek #architektura #CrownTribunal #judiciary #history #Poland #architecture #PolishLithuanianCommonwealth #Renaissance #Classicism #photography #street #marketsquare #city #town #marketplace
