LOL, French cops dumped 4.8 tonnes of cocaine overboard off a ship and then sent the crew on their way. πŸ€” (in French Polynesia)

Secret tunnels and 'tonnes' of cocaine as boat's 'bizarre' journey ends in Sydney

Setting off from Panama just before Christmas, police say the MV Raider started its journey towards Sydney with almost six tonnes of cocaine aboard worth nearly $2 billion.

@ai6yr Fish in the area: ::twitch:: ::tweak::
@ai6yr I'm no expert on policing but "a fish ate my cocaine evidence" sounds, well, fishy.
@stacey_campbell @ai6yr maybe they'll try and carp a plea πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
@ai6yr that's got to be bad for fish ...
@ai6yr @CStamp What a story! They are lucky they are on that side of the world for this activity. On the ocean off Venezuela. Over there Trump is happy his military are just bombing and sinking boats. No need to talk it over or have any inspections. Somehow the US supposedly knows these are shipments of drug cartels.
@cobalt123 @ai6yr It’s unsettling that they just dumped the drugs overboard. Just what we need: cocaine shark or whale. ;)

@ai6yr
I'm sure those French cops who couldn't be bothered to do the paperwork and prosecute anyone were 100% honest about dropping the very valuable substances overboard and didn't make arrangements with their local friendly crime lords to profit off of it 😐

And "we had to let the remaining coke into our country to keep the refugees out" is quite the hot take from Australian police. Presumably they're now using the threat of drug trafficking charges to force abandoment of asylum claims, despite the very mysterious lack of actual evidence that the drugs existed.

@me_valentijn LOL "fell off a boat" is a phrase for a reason.
