Canageek (Roleplaying account)@bstacey This is one of those things which I expect would have been much more reasonable to people when the movie was made, I believe that's a steam pipe used for either heat or power.
As I understand it, a lot of things used to be powered using steam power, instead of everything having its own electric motor in it, so people used to be a lot more used to having steam pipes everywhere.
@Canageek It kind of looked like a steam supply line
