I mowed fourteen thousand steps worth.
If I keep the grass short on Summer's front acre we are more fire safe, she picks up fewer ticks and my husband is less likely to fall when he can see the contours of the ground more clearly. For all of those reasons I push an old gas powered mower. The good news is that I've decided to start a battery powered mower savings stash again. Last time I ended up doing something else important with my mower fund but this time it's past time to modernize. I expect I will treat myself to an upgrade for my birthday in September.
In between mowing and other chores I finished my daughter's favorite lemon blueberry scones.
They smell so good. The big problem is that there are eight scones and only seven fit in the travel container.
I asked Summer what to do?
She thinks we should drop the orphan scone off to a friend who lives alone because there is only one scone and three of us.
She is a genius.

@NorcalGma2 i’ve owned one battery powered mower. It was an echo. About five years ago.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work out because the batteries died far too quickly. And I’m talking permanent death not just ran out of juice though they were light on that as well.
Milwaukee makes a dual batttery push mower that is very expensive. But looks solid. Dual 12 amp batteries.
@Da_Gut
I will probably buy a Stihl because that is the brand of all of our battery powered tools. I believe they have a professional landscaping version.
@NorcalGma2 i’ll have to look at that one!
@NorcalGma2 I wish I had the funds to buy you an electric mower 🌱... (you posted "I've decided to start a battery powered mower savings stash again.")
You support so many others and it would be amazing if someone on the Fediverse could bring you some help too 🥰❤️XO
@CaringKinderSociety
This is my way. I don't like debt so I pick what I want and save. There are many people who have needs greater than my mower. I do appreciate the thoughtfulness though. ♥️
@CaringKinderSociety @NorcalGma2 It
might not be needed for this issue, but if it’s ever needed I’m pretty sure our Fedifriends would move mountains for Gma.

@NorcalGma2

Lemon blueberry scones, oh my!

@NorcalGma2

Summer looks so pretty in that photo!

I think it's a good idea to get a lawn mower that will be easier to work with.

@FiddleSix
It's time but I was so frustrated with current events some exercise was good. I will have to decide if I want to get a push mower and a riding one. My Fitbit says I got almost two hours of cardio.

@NorcalGma2

2 hours of cardio is impressive!

A riding one would have a wider blade area, wouldn't it? Which would make quicker work of mowing, though, of course you would not have the exercise...you have time to think about it and consider all the options.

@FiddleSix
I would have to have both because I don't feel safe on the steep sections riding.
I think the exercise is good for me.

@NorcalGma2 I have absolutely been loving my battery powered mower, and yesterday, I just picked up the companion chainsaw. Just came in from trying it and the feeling is love at first use.

I think we're on the same battery system, so if you want to try out my mower before making a decision, let me know and I'll bring it over for a test drive.

Also have my old gas mower up on Craigslist if you know of anyone who needs a gas mower.

The Stihl mower we bought has two battery slots and I can do our whole yard off one battery with some to spare.

I'm so loving both that I'm secretly hoping that the string trimmer and hedge trimmer both die like the chain saw did to give me the excuse to upgrade.

@955_36
I have the chain saw and two of the trimmers. I already know I will be happy with the mower and will need to buy the heavy duty model. We use both trimmers at the same time switching out the four batteries.
This really is too much property for us but the grandkids do most of the trimming.
Thanks.

@NorcalGma2

You will need to do your homework on getting a new lawn mower. Weight. Ruggedness. Battery life.

Here in Australia, we have gas/petrol mowers with a wider cut and also self propelled mowers - don't know about these attributes in electric mowers. SupaSwift's Big Bob has a wider cut. And I see they also have a self propelled mower.

Almost certainly electric mowers are on sale at certain times of the year. Stihl has sales in Australia from time to time.

SupaSwift has a range of lawn equipment for residential, domestic, and commercial use. Check out our range of mowers, log splitters, trimmers, and ride-ons.

@NorcalGma2

This is a Stihl battery, wide cut mower from Australia. Skin only (i.e. no battery or charger).

It seems different Stihl mowers use different batteries. So you'd also need to check that your existing Stihl batteries work with your mower.

@PostcardsFromParadise
Wow! Thank you!
I need a heavy duty mower. I have a dealer in mind and will ask what they sell to professional landscapers. Mowers are usually on sale in June for Father's Day. If the deal is good enough I will buy one on sale.
I'm not mowing a flat lawn unfortunately. Our property is a little bit on the wild side.
@NorcalGma2 the world needs Summer's advices!
