Oh good, Discord has shipped an entire fucking multiplayer video game as part of its chat application.

I get that they probably got paid a lot of money to do so, but I can’t imagine the game publishers will see much ROI on this.

And Discord seem to think they have any reputation left to burn at this point…

@samir They added what?!

(I have to note that the social application I'm on (Misskey) also has actual games, but at least they're a whimsy addition by unpaid volunteers, and they're hidden inside a menu and not advertised outside it)
@emmy They put a little leaf icon in the top-right (at least for me). I clicked it because it’s in the same place that you’d usually find the “install new updates” button, and it launched some game directly in the application, taking it over. I didn’t investigate further, I just got annoyed.
@samir Oh, apparently it's an April Fools "joke". They also did something similar last year. Now I feel it's even more of a waste of developer time.

@emmy Oh, perhaps I should be grateful they’re working on stupid shit instead of shouting at me about Nitro and adding more crap no one asked for. 🙃

Though someone might want to tell them that no one appreciates being fooled right now.

(I’m trying to move my two societies off Discord but it’s gonna be next year, I think.)
