Topped Out

A capping cloud covers the lofty crags, rain-soaked and side-lit. More distant cloud is darkening the flanks, but the lower slopes are spread with sunlight.

Fence posts and utility poles stand in sequence, lending scale to the massive tumbled boulders scattered at its foot.

@mo The top of the mountain is missing, especially for this one. From distance it's almost a perfect pyramid and has of course it's own trollesse.
But most famously (for Icelanders) it's the subject of a well known book "Að breyta fjalli" (e. "To modify a mountain") by Stefán Jónsson, a renowned radio host, reporter, humorist, angler, and much more.
The book begins telling about his father, which after several years of reflection, climbed to the top of the mountain just to build a small cairn.

@mo The point was that his father, born in nearby Djúpivogur, he thought that the mountain's symmetry was imperfect, and this bothered him always more and more. So up he went - just because...

By the time we reached Byrgistangi and parked in our favourite spot (great for aurora watching) the cloud had shifted slightly and the peak was showing again. I love Búlandstindur, it's magical.
