obviously some things do happen in good time, but even with a career, that doesn’t guarantee a person can start saving. especially not immediately. i agree, saving for an emergency fund would be ideal… with my life: yesterday was an emergency, today was an emergency, tomorrow will probably be too.

don’t shame the person, shame the system because it’s absolutely ridiculous that people can never get ahead.

@ashleyyrain

Go ahead and put your contribution sites here too. I can't always contribute, but when I can, I certainly will. Hope you are well, and we'll see how we can help, eh?

@chessert hey, Chris 😊 you have always been the kindest person towards me! I can’t say enough how much I appreciate your support. I’ll leave links, but honestly, just having these open discussions, esp in these dark times, is so appreciated. I know of so many people in the mental health profession going through these same struggles right now. it breaks my heart

@ashleyyrain

My daughters all seem to be doing well.

So I've kinda adopted you as another. I'm older, and have some financial security. If I can't help improve other people's lives... why am I here, and what was this all for? 🤷‍♂️

Bottom line: you don't owe me — I owe you. Pay it forward!

@chessert
firstly — 🥺
i have no words (i do), that may be the sweetest thing I’ve heard in a long time. your daughters are so lucky to have you.

thank you for your perspective. that is such an interesting way of looking at it. i love hearing more detailed explanations on why people feel as they do about things.. so thank you for sharing it with me 😊

@ashleyyrain you are so right. Saving money is a privilege, and those abundant messages out there saying "it doesn't matter if you save 1 cent per month" are just ridiculous.. in Chile, there are no basic rights, everything was privatized by the dictatorship and the support of USA (btw: Our constitution was written by USA). So, if you also have a kid, things get much worse. Health rights? Education rights? Housing rights? Noooot. Thanks for your reflections!
@leoschuldiner23 woah, no thank you for your reflections. i learn something new everyday. this was very insightful and I could not agree more.
