The stim/tic post I did earlier became an internet rabbit hole I fell down. Which became an overly long blog post.

The answer to "is this a stim or a tic?" seems to be "it's complicated." Which is both validating and annoying.

Post also includes: a list of my greatest vocal hits, MrsVark finding my weird noises comforting, and the understanding that "more symptoms" may actually just be "less masking."

Frank-En-Furter - My Vocal Stims/Tics - The Soundtrack of My Life

For a short while now, I've found myself saying 'Frank-En-Furter' out loud.

@theaardvark @autistics I think my opinion would be that stims are closer to the voluntary action end of the scale, while tics are closer to the involuntary action end. Its a gradient, though, and, like the difference between muesli and granola, it's more of a shorthand to give context about which end of that scale you're talking about.
