It's #Caturday! This is Cato, a stray cat we noticed trying to stay warm on those -20 degree nights in January huddled over a heated bird bath in our backyard. We took him inside, got him fixed and kept him "until it warmed up." Despite being quite feral, I thought I could "socialize" him. Long story short, he still thinks he's wild, but I think I've turned him into a house cat.

@WorkWithKirk Thank you for rescuing this kitty. He looks very content. Also getting the feeling he may have lived with humans before. A true feral cat would never tolerate being inside and wouldn't sleep on a bed like that.

I'm very sorry, but that just isn't the case. I live in a rural area and over the years almost all of the cats I've adopted have been totally, verifiably feral. They start out as wildcats but most turn into cuddly mushbuckets. There's one next to me right now who's only goal in life is to sit on my lap.

@j @rayotron We've volunteered with cat rescue groups since the '90s and have taken in several street cats. Some we socialized to the point of adopting out to forever homes. Some only bonded with us and never trusted strangers. So we kept them. About half of those turned into love machines that never tired of petting. The rest bonded to our other cats and house life. But never liked to be touched. Like people, they're individuals.
