Perhaps the good Congressman should be the first to get a new job. After the midterms, perhaps?
@georgetakei Making license plates?

@georgetakei

Nobody can't ... unemployment is UP.

@georgetakei I didn’t hear them say this in 2021-2024
@georgetakei That would be incredibly heartwarming.

@georgetakei This is an absolutely terrible take from Van Drew - but honestly part of my left-leaning disappointment with the Dems is that the focus on "education" to solve poverty is actually the same answer wearing a different tie.

It feels like we're coming out of it, but we really need to be the party that embraces the notion that every job at every station must pay a real living wage.

@mausmalone @georgetakei

Democrats have already been doing this in states that they control, look up the minimum wage by state. Then look up which states have progressive and regressive tax systems and which states have strong social safety nets.

@HakeemG @georgetakei Yeah ... I'm glad change is finally coming. It just took a real long time.

The issue, IMO, with the "education solution" is that it worked for Clinton during the boom 1990s economy and then for 20+ years establishment dems needed to learn that it was the wrong plan for the post-bubble era. We should've moved on much earlier.

@georgetakei this is additionally wild because folks with fte will tell you: there's typically something you have to sign that says "I won't work an additional job"

Breaking that contract means you get fired.

@georgetakei Two. He's going to need two now. He shouldn't be allowed to hold onto the first one and his advice to everyone was to get a SECOND job.

@georgetakei First job? What about second job, or your mid afternoon gig work, or overnight street walking?

Surely things getting more expensive isn't a worry for people taking on the daily grind. Work life balance? No, just work.

@georgetakei Another member of the GOP that is out of touch with everyday Americans.

@georgetakei

our tax money pays these assholes $175,000+ per year with added per diem

we need to stop paying them

@samiamsam @georgetakei

Stop paying them why, because the American people elect idiots? Personally my congressional representation is excellent and dramatically underpaid.

At some point the American people have to take responsibility for their choices, and I really don't understand why this is such a hard thing for so many people to understand.

@HakeemG @georgetakei

that wasn't my point, but ok

feel better?

@HakeemG @samiamsam @georgetakei Unfortunately, many Americans feel this way. β€œMy representative is great, it’s all of the other ones that are the problem.” I know mine are terrible & vote for someone better, but unfortunately I’m in a minority here.

@Cuchelain @samiamsam @georgetakei

Correct, but objectively it's the GOP side that is terrible.

@georgetakei

You're #fired !!!
Try a #Job as a #Democrat.
It's more #Fun to compete.
πŸ‘πŸ˜‚

@georgetakei No. The good congressman needs to experience being unemployed and unemployable.

@georgetakei

The attitude of the rich, aways, "obviously you peons just need to work harder"

@georgetakei Van Drew will hopefully be job hunting soon.
@georgetakei Congressman, we would not be in this fix if you would just do the job you have now!
@georgetakei Remember when Dubya told some woman with three jobs she was a "testament to the American spirit" or some shit like that? It's what they do.
