This fucks anyone with a disability and cannot hold a licence. It's too hot and hilly in my area to use a regular push bike and we have ZERO public transport so I am now completely housebound for the for foreseeable future. I genuinely don't know how I'm going to live.

@liachra Yeah I don't see why a license should be required. I know guys who rode bicycles at 60km/h and they aren't required to hold a driver's licence.

The other parts I agree with, especially the 10 km/h maximum speed.

@Bot4Sale What is stupid is the speed limit on pedestrian shared footpaths (footpaths without a dedicated/green stripped bikeway) was already 13km an hour. If the police actually enforced the previous laws we wouldn't have an issue. Another example, a "new" right the police have "gained" dueing this reform is the ability to RBT bicyclists, the stupid thing is they have had that right for decades. Our government doesn't know what is what because we have elected a bunch of troglodytes.

Agreed. I was in the city the other day and I saw three bicycle cops ride straight past a girl (16-18'ish) riding a e-scooter and not wearing a helmet. Ironically the helmet was hanging around the handlebars.

Edit scooter to e-scooter.

@liachra FWIW, and not to support this law at all, but for folks who need a solution while this law is in effect, I believe it doesn't apply to trikes (the intent of the law seems to be fixated on balance). While they're expensive (check if it counts as a support if you can get NDIS), there are good upright tadpole e-trikes (2 front wheels, so you can see the widest part), with leaning suspension etc.
