Got a new microwave, so here is me pulling some of the protective stickers off it because Iโ€™m sure there are people like me who love that.
@Ashedryden I actually do love this!

@Ashedryden No misophonia detected! (but please don't rub unglazed ceramics together)

Happy microwaves to you, and many happy turns of the turntable (do they have turntables anymore?)

@Ashedryden ahhhhhhhhhhhh, so calming
@Ashedryden Thank you for your service!
@Ashedryden And you're completely right. Someone out there needs to make a reusable protective sticker fidget or something.
@Ashedryden I feel this needs a content warning...and a Barry White soundtrack
@Ashedryden NOOOOOO, not the clear one over the keypad ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

I tend to keep it as long as possible so it stays in mint condition ๐Ÿ˜…
@Ashedryden I thought they were supposed to be blue
@Ashedryden so satisfying ๐Ÿ˜
@Ashedryden Oh yeah baby, peel that sticker off slowly...
@Ashedryden Someone should sell a product that doesn't do anything, it just has a bunch of surfaces protected by stickers to peel. Oops All Stickers.
@Ashedryden Personally I would keep them on there until they get dirty ...
@Ashedryden today my hotel chair with wheels still the blue plastic on the chrome, so I had the pleasure of removing them.
@Ashedryden Oh god yeah, that's the good stuff!
@Ashedryden
We had our microwave for years. One day I noticed some wear on the numbers and pulled off the sticker. Had never realized ...

@RonJeffries @Ashedryden Honest question: If the protective sticker doesn't hinder usage, why pull it off ever?

At the very least, it might retain the devices resell value ๐Ÿค”

@Ashedryden Oh HELL yeah. Getting to do this is one my greatest joys in life
@Ashedryden Then comes the part where you have to constantly wipe off the fingerprints.

@Ashedryden

I had installed a new dishwasher a couple weeks ago.

The plastic peel process was totally scuffed, I could only peel back an inch of plastic before it would tear. ๐Ÿฅน

Entire front side covered in the stuff. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

@Ashedryden

Those stickers are there for a good reason: protect the material behind it. Is there any good reason - except people that love it - to remove these protective stickers? I mean, they were meant to be left on the product (any product with protective stickers for that reason) to protect them during lifetime of the product, weren't they? That's the question I've been asking myself since I first saw these stickers.

@normand

@Ashedryden Did you end up getting the baby quiet one?
@Ashedryden @dianea When we bought our microwave, it came with a replacement set of button labels in French (because Canada). After a month or two the English buttons were looking pretty roughโ€ฆ โ€œGuess weโ€™ll just have to use the French labels instead,โ€ we said. I tried to figure out how to remove the English labels. It peeled off in one satisfying piece โ€ฆbut the words were still there. Turns out what we had thought was wear on the buttons was just wear on one of these protective stickers that we hadnโ€™t realized was present. Six years later and the original English labels are going strong, no reason to switch to French yet (which is good because we probably lost them years agoโ€ฆ)
