Even before beginning formal science operations, the remarkable Rubin Observatory has already discovered 12,700 new asteroids.

It found 11,000 asteroids in just 6 weeks during an "optimization" shakedown.

For me, the coolest thing about the observatory is how it should give us a better understanding of dark energy and dark matter.

@coreyspowell Do you happen to know, how the data is verified? Like continuity between footage to rule out noise, for example?
