A2: It's a weirdly expensive bit of kit and I'd be loathe to replace it, but I don't actually need the logic analyzer I've got for any project I'm actively pursuing.
Of course, the moment I gave the tool up I would immediately find a use for it.
@patcharcana
That is always the way!
You could long term loan it to someone else on the basis you can have it back when you needed it. But that never works either!
Q2: We all have more tools, or creative kit than we really need. Which tool or kit would you be ok with losing first, and why?
#MakersHour
I haven't knitted or crocheted for ages, and have many more needles and hooks than I'm ever likely to use, so I could lose a lot of that stuff. In fact, I should sort through it all and put some in the bag to pass on to my friend with the pre-loved craft shop.

A2: I am unable to answer this as they’ll hear me and think I don’t love them anymore.
@Andy
Awwww!
We appologise to Bugsy, our car, when we talk about part exchanging him while we are out driving.
@Stratski
Yeah, I have way too many old wooden moulding planes, that I never use.
I should turn them into lamps, or something!
@MakersHour @Stratski Or, turn them into a model plane ✈️! That would be quite fun!
Pressscioussss.
@MakersHour A2 For me it's probably an excess of components rather than tools, largely due to bulk pricing.
@MakersHour Q2. Losing kit? A2. Most of my hand sewing kit is redundant or interchangeable, and I have lost a good number of needles, needle threaders, embroidery hoops, and even one project in progress. Working on a commute bus can do that.
Most dispensible-with? Pins, perhaps, because a basting stitch will usually serve.
A2 I have a set of three chisels I for €5, and they are utter crap. I really only keep them around for things like opening paint cans. Utter waste of money.
@quixoticgeek @MakersHour
My Dad gave me a set of really cheap chisels from his 'budget end of shop stock' pile when I started furniture making. They were not even strong enough for prising open paint tins!
😄
I got a relatively nice set of Bacho chisels, cheaply at a trade show, that I have fine tuned enough to be good for most of my work.
