Ready for long night riding again, apologies for the messy wiring it’s functional I assure you. Dynamo hub, front and rear light and usb charger for my Garmin.

@wlukewindsor I love that headlight (have same)
@epu they are really very good aren’t they - less bright than the more expensive version but I find it enough even for pitch black lanes

@wlukewindsor @epu the wiring of mine recently broke on the hedge of the metal housing.

I managed to take it apart and replace the wires. Add a tick box next to reparable

@wlukewindsor Same, only mine looks quite a bit messier with silicone smeared into the recessed bits where the front snaps into the case, because water got in there. Except for the waterproofing it's great.
@epu
@menos @epu I previously had a Schmidt Edelux which failed due to water ingress and I also had one of the infamous possessed B and Ms which came with integrated USB charging. They really didn’t like water (although mine got mentoring Race Around the Netherlands without any problems and then failed shortly after)
@wlukewindsor
That's a bummer, and I thought being completely potted and thus fairly immune to water was the biggest plus of the Edelux. I still got a Forumslader in the parts bin so no need for those integrated chargers ^^ @epu

@menos @epu it was an edelux version 1, maybe newer ones are better

I have a sinewave usb works really well

@wlukewindsor do you charge the Garmin while riding?
@rachel yes - it won’t last otherwise (just have to be a little careful of it rains)
@wlukewindsor @Binder those always remind me of The Simpsons. 😅
@josh0 @Binder fortunately modern hub dynamos aren’t such a drag ;-)

@wlukewindsor blimey I'd just buy more lights ! 😃

My pal that did the trans-continental race used a usb charging hub but he couldn't rely on charging his electrics in a b&b. You're not doing the trans-continental are you?

@FourT4 Garmin won’t last for a 300/400 so it’s either that or a power bank…
@FourT4 and I don’t like the idea of the TCR much, although I may do another ultra one day after PBP
@wlukewindsor How far are you riding?
@arratoon night start 300 weekend after next
@wlukewindsor I wondered about a Dynamo, but 24 hour is about the length of my longest event and my light lasts 22 so I have plenty of light. Even bikepacking I'm rarely going to be out long enough to use all the battery capacity I carry.

@curtismchale Dynamos are great for me because they don’t need charging and they can charge either my phone or my Garmin - and a 600 is a stretch for both even with a power bank (although a I’ve done that in the past)

Like a lot of regular overnight riders I have a backup LED rear light (using AAAs) and back up rechargeable front light. Being in the middle of nowhere with failed lights is no joke (and the backup front light doubles as a torch).
