GNOME Fellowship

UPDATE - Gnome account blocked me!

I guess they don't like their comfortable zionism being questioned.

----

@gnome

Please can you reconsider why

1. People from Iran are prevented from taking part

BUT

2. People from Israel are welcome.

This is pretty serious - and shows you have your values very very wrong.

And no, you can't hide behind a choose-your-own-sanctions-regime.

#zionism #tech #bias #racism

@rapsneezy @gnome you need to talk to the US Congress about this. GNOME Foundation is US-based entity, we genuinely cannot do anything about this.

If it was up to me I wouldn't exclude anyone just because of where they were born/live, but alas, I cannot do anything about it.

@rapsneezy @gnome also, "people from Israel" are welcome because peoples are not governments, so you may want to recalibrate your racism

@gnome

Someone replied then blocked me.

They said it was US law.

But there are 200 countries on this planet.

Get out of the USA.

@rapsneezy people from Iran are prevented because the US has sanctioned Iran as a whole and the GNOME Foundation is a US-based organization. If the GNOME Foundation were to do transactions with people living in Iran, they'd put themselves at risk. All this to say, fuck the US

While financial affairs are messy, one thing's for sure is that the community does not tolerate Zionism

(To give some context on the following screenshots, someone made a complaint about someone publicly stating that they are donating to Palestine)

@TheEvilSkeleton

this is good to see

especially if it is official gnome policy

I do wish that one day GNOME and others move out of the USA

And my own personal wish is that they don't take the easy / lazy step of moving to Europe - but further afield where the global benefit will be much bigger.

thanks for sharing (your solidarity with humanity !)
