Rather than the same old boring internet pranks, I thought I'd build something more fun this April Fools.

CSS or BS. Can you tell your CSS properties names from BS?

CSS or BS?

Think you know CSS? Real property or made-up nonsense? 20 rounds. No mercy.

@keithamus amazing!

I think there might be a bug with the sharing.

CSS or BS? I got 47/80/80 -- can you do better?

Should that double 80 be there?

@Edent @keithamus Gosh I really need to look up some of these now. I kind of wish font-antialias was real though.
@keithamus I clicked "CSS" on text-outline. I want to believe 👽
@virtulis Secretely just farming developers for their wishlist.
@keithamus Thank you for the helpful confidence reduction - just what I needed to turbo charge my job hunting 😂
@keithamus I spent considerable time thinking «what the hell is CSS orbs»
@mo Next game idea unlocked.
@keithamus @mo https://codepen.io/jcoulterdesign/pen/OMOqjy CSS Orbs for ya

or so the title claims
CSS Parallax Orbs

Inspired by Sims 4!...

@keithamus it doesn't seem to be working on Firefox 140.9.0esr. Clicking "Show me a property" moves the button but doesn't do anything else.

@keithamus you cheeeeky!

"So now you've figured out how to play the game, maybe click 'Play Again' and... actually try."

...also, what the hell is CSS unicode-bidi 🤯

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/Reference/Properties/unicode-bidi

#css

unicode-bidi - CSS | MDN

The unicode-bidi CSS property, together with the direction property, determines how bidirectional text in a document is handled. For example, if a block of content contains both left-to-right and right-to-left text, the user-agent uses a complex Unicode algorithm to decide how to display the text. The unicode-bidi property overrides this algorithm and allows the developer to control the text embedding.

@keithamus i would be so good at this if it was table layout tricks :P
@keithamus After all these years, I apparently don’t know CSS.
Thank you for this insight.
@keithamus been having fun with your games recently, and this one's a banger! Although I will say, I don't think working draft properties should be included - I got "item-cross" wrong for saying BS, and, yes, it is in a draft spec somewhere, but it's not in use or implemented anywhere, and it's still up for debate whether it'll make it into CSS at all. But either way, very fun game (and it looks scrumptious, too)!

@vrugtehagel thanks, that means a lot!

The draft properties are all on the "Forbidden" level which requires some effort to get to. So congratulations for doing so well that I had to resort to draft properties to catch you out 😉

@keithamus This is devious.

As someone who last touched CSS a decade ago, it is indeed hard to tell the real properties from the made up ones.

@keithamus This was fun! I am actually on the Publishing WG.
@keithamus What is BS?
@bpruneau 🙊 uhhh... nonsense. Made up. Bullshite!
@keithamus i guess tailwind users stand no chance in this 😬
@dbu that’s my spinoff game “tailwind class or just me headbutting my keyboard and seeing what keys come out”. Doesn’t have the same ring to it though.

@dbu @keithamus

Tailwind looks more unbelievable

!h-auto

@keithamus 52/80 and I thought I was pretty knowledgeable.
@keithamus I've taken this three times, and I got one of them wrong all three times. 🙃
@keithamus the few tailwind classes in here keep catching me off guard

"yeah I've used that befo- wait no thats tailwind's shorthand, not the internal property name"

like
align-stretch is just mean.
@keithamus update: apparently im dumb on even that, it's items-stretch; https://tailwindcss.com/docs/align-items
align-items - Flexbox & Grid

Utilities for controlling how flex and grid items are positioned along a container's cross axis.

@keithamus
Ça c'est beau, merci
@keithamus please give me a version without the music and timer, I want to appreciate the madness in its fullness
